Taking Graffitti to a New Level

This Dutch graffitti artist is taking the street art to a whole new level, using lasers.

The good news for the owner of the building is that they won’t have to spend thousands to remove the graffitti….!

How much do you love your car?

Make sure someone doesn’t steal it then…

Credit Crunch Santa

This is a photo taken by my sister in law in the Worcestershire area. She reckons Father Christmas is worn out. Or perhaps it’s the lean years of the credit crunch?

It certainly makes a fun change from the usual kinds of Xmas decorations you see around that are all about schmaltz and sentimentality with fat, jolly Santas!

I’m on the look out for off the wall takes on the usual Xmas hype - like the Bhangra Jingle Bells video I posted up the other day - so if you see anything odd and quirky, please let me know!

Before they were famous: Celebrity Yearbook Photos

I’m a great movie fan and it’s always fun to see what the mega stars looked like before they were famous. This slideshow on the Huffington Post has pics of Jennifer Anistion (seen here), Brad Pitt, Angeline Jolie, Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow - and more - from their high school yearbooks. Fab!

Julie Andrews always cheers me up

I’ve always been a fan of The Sound of Music and Julie Andrews, so I loved this video when it was forwarded to me by a friend - especially the rap bit in the middle…

(It is a promotion stunt for a Belgian television program, where they are looking for someone to play the leading role, in the musical of “The Sound of Music”.)

I met up with @xculture this evening to discuss preparations for our book launch but …

I forgot to snap a pic of her so I’m using one that @jangles took of her with a copy of the book! It feels like the big party to celebrate the book has been a long time coming and although it’s still a month away, we’re both very excited now. It’ll also be a great opportunity to thank our respondents who took the time to answer our interview questions, adding to the context and knowledge base in the work.

Who’s on the 4th Plinth this hour?

This afternoon, I passed this blonde with a bottle of champagne who became art for an hour as part of Anthony Gormley’s One and Other art project on the 4th Plinth in Trafalgar Square.

Who have you seen on the 4th Plinth?

Our Yummy Garden

In between rushing around giving talks, writing the book, blogging, going to work, running etc, I’ve also been helping my partner with our garden. It’s been hard work and hugely time consuming - and there were times when I got really grumpy about having to go out there to dig and weed and water when I has so many other things to do. But after several months with nothing to show for all that hard labour, the results have finally been worth it.

Here are some snaps of our basil, chives, chard, tomato plant, thyme, fennel and marigolds!

We’re now having prawns with homegrown basil for lunch so I’ve got to go….
