Suffering for His Art

OK, I have to admit it here. I’m a great fan of Jackie Chan movies. The plots may all be a bit silly but his action stunts are balletic and witty in the way they use the natural environment. And he also does them all himself for real with no stunt doubles or CGI. They are literally death-defying.

Here is a video documenting some of the injuries that he suffered while filming some of those amazing stunts. It’s a miracle he’s still alive let alone walking, jumping and karate-chopping.

Hat tip to One Inch Punch for first alerting me to this video

I’m a great fan of Jackie Chan too, from way back in the days of traditional kungfu fighting movies such as Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow and Drunken Master to the present days when he is a popular Chinese actor in Hollywood. He is indeed a rare breed of a kungfu star where all his fighting scenes are synchronized to perfection that render watching his movies a really entertaining experience.

One thing though. The video seems to have been removed from its website as clicking it returned the message that it’s no more available. What a pity.

Hi Say Lee - I love Jackie Chan’s use of humour in the kung fu and stunts, too. The video looks like it’s from a TV show so it cuold be that the rights holders have asked for it to be taken down at YouTube - shame.
