  1. Say Lee Says:

By the definitions in the two articles, I’m definitely no blogger, though I would like call myself one. Maybe amateur blogger then.

But seriously, Confucius is right to maintain that moderation is the way to go. Working in cyberspace is not different from in a brick and mortar business. There’s time for work, say 9 to 5, and there is time for play. For me, blogging is play. But these news catch our attention because there are a rarity, at least for now. Numerous people have died from work-related stress in conventional occupations but these are no more news-worthy. It’s almost like the much publicized casualty in a plane accident when figures show that many more people die from road accidents.

Right on, Say Lee. Really, all is required is a clear definition. If it’s play (the way it is for most of us bloggers), then we just have to make sure we don’t get too obsessed by it till we forgo our other responsibilities and our health. Me, I just post entries whenever I feel like it… there isn’t a fixed schedule or deadline to drive me up the wall.

If one is a professional blogger, then… Well, what are your opinions on this, people? I’m not a professional blogger (who earns his living from his blog) so I wouldn’t really know what is required of one.

Very good points, Say Lee and Kenny. I think the press likes to spread FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) as that is what sells papers. Perhaps this sort of news item panders to those people who don’t really know what blogging is and who would like to hear that it’s a terrible thing so they don’t feel so left out!
