True Grit and a Pair of Scissors - Winnie Loo, A Cut Above Interview (Podcast)
What does it take to become the Vidal Sassoon of Malaysia?
In this podcast I talk to Winnie Loo, founder and creative director of A Cut Above salon, how she built up her brand to become the Vidal Sassoon of Malaysia. You can also get the chance to win a copy of her motivational book A Cut Above, Built on Hard Work, True Grit and a Pair of Scissors - details below.
Winnie built up her hairdressing salon, A Cut Above, over 30 years from a small unit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to become the premier brand in hair styling in Malaysia. She has opened the A Cut Above Hairdressing Academy, a training centre of excellence for stylists in Malaysia and across Asia. She is also a motivational speaker and author.
I spoke to Winnie on the phone from Kuala Lumpur.

Dear Ms Ooi,
Hi. How are you? I am doing my master course in sydney australia. I have decided to write about Winnie Loo. I am impressed with her achievement and entreprenuerial skills. One of my core subjects “Entreprenuer and Innovation” i have read and got a copy of her book too. I read the book two years ago. By any chance, do you have a script of your interview with her? Is it possible to allow me to use it as my reference in my research report? My mobile is +61421870053
Yours sincerely
Lynne Ho

Hi Lynne - Winnie is certainly very inspiring. I don’t have a transcript of the interview. However, you are very welcome to refer to it in your dissertation, provided you include an acknowledgement to my blog and podcast, including my name and a link to this blog post.
